Ghost Train Vase

A lone Ghost Train ruffled dark iris stands out against a dark, ebony circle as if its darkness is simply diffusing into the roundel to exaggerate the bulbous neck of the vase and the incredible luxuriously smooth, black velvet petals of the flower itself. This nocturnal wonder was created from historic plants - Around Midnight and a Dykes Medal winner, Hello Darkness. First awarded in 1927, the Dykes Medal is the highest award of the American Iris Society, awarded to no more than one iris per year.

It is said that its ruffled petals add a spirited bounce to the sombre ebony of this violet-black bloom. Vicky further lightens the mood of her design subject with a flurry of spiring, vivid-lilac and yellow muscari.
